Dr. Garrett Howze

Dr. Garrett Howze grew up in the close-knit community of Maypearl, Texas. Inspired by his father, Dr. Kent Howze, a respected dentist, Dr. Howze developed a passion for dentistry from a young age. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of North Texas before pursuing his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Texas Health San Antonio School of Dentistry. During his time there, he was one of a select few handpicked to participate in advanced courses in Implant Dentistry and Pre-prosthetic Surgery, which fostered a deep love for these specialized areas. San Antonio is a special place for Dr. Howze as it's where he met his wife, Dr. Shanna Howze, during dental school. Together they share a deep passion for dentistry, dedicating their careers to improving the smiles and well-being of their patients.
Now practicing in DeSoto, Texas, Dr. Howze is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality dental care to his community. One of the most fulfilling aspects of his career is continuing the legacy his father began, caring for patients who have been part of his family’s practice for generations. Dr. Howze is committed to lifelong learning, regularly attending continuing education to ensure he remains at the forefront of dental care. He revolutionizes his dental practice by utilizing cutting edge 3D technology to enhance patient care.

When not in the office, Dr. Howze enjoys spending time with his two furbabies, Winston and Olivia. An avid outdoorsman, he also loves golf, running, hunting and fishing. Dr. Howze is honored to build upon his father’s commitment to excellent dental care and enjoys forming lasting relationships with his patients in the DeSoto community.
Dr. Kent Howze

Dr. Kent Howze started his dental practice in 1986. He settled in his current office in DeSoto in 1989, bringing a commitment to personalized care and building lifelong relationships with patients. Over the past three decades, he has proudly served the DeSoto community, treating families who have entrusted him with their smiles for over 30 years. Although he now practices on a limited basis, Dr. Howze continues to stay engaged through ongoing education and enjoys returning to see his patients. He has since passed the practice and his dedication to compassionate care on to his son, ensuring the legacy of quality dental care continues.
A native of DeSoto and a proud graduate of DeSoto High School, Dr. Howze went on to earn his degree as a pharmacist from the University of Texas at Austin—Hook ’em Horns! He then received his doctorate of dental surgery from UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry. In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Howze served in the the US Navy Reserves assigned to a Battalion that provided dental care for the US Marine Corps. He frequently volunteers on mission trips to provide dental care to under-served communities.
Outside the office, Dr. Howze enjoys golfing, cheering on the Texas Longhorns, and spending time with his family. He is a proud husband, father, and grandfather. His dedication to dentistry and to his community remains an inspiration, both for his patients and for the next generation in his family.

Meet Marley!

Marley is our sweet and gentle golden retriever who doubles as a therapy dog at Howze Family Dentistry. He has a calming presence that patients adore and brings so much joy to our office family.When he’s off duty, Marley spends his time loving on his cat siblings, Winston and Olivia, strolling on long walks, and enjoying his favorite pastime—napping.
